This programme definitely elevated my knowledge in negotiation, crisis management, and multicultural communication. Internally, I strengthen my collaboration with colleagues and supervisors by streamlining complex adjudication requirements into concise, actionable guidelines, ensuring consistent policy application. With inmates, I now employ persuasive, culturally sensitive dialogue to negotiate with crisis communication frameworks to avoid unnecessary confrontations. Externally, I now uphold a strong sense of social legitimacy throughout every communication in public engagement. These competencies enable me to be a high achiever at work and serve as an invaluable bridge among staff, inmates, and the wider society.

CHEUNG Ka Chung Klaus

I entered CUHK’s MSSc in Corporate Communication with a marketing background but without formal training in communication. Seeking to deepen my expertise, I found the programme both challenging and highly practical. Through case studies and discussions, I gained structured frameworks to approach real-world situations, including crisis and reputation management. Learning alongside classmates from diverse industries further enriched my perspective. Most importantly, the programme helped me connect and articulate my past experiences in a clear, systematic way, ultimately supporting my transition into my current role as a PR Officer in the education sector.

What I loved most about the programme was how practical and hands-on everything felt. We weren’t just reading textbooks, instead, we were actively cracking crisis management cases, pitching PR proposals, and running mock press conferences. Getting to learn directly from industry professionals during guest lectures also gave us a real sense of how the field works.

Having worked in higher education, the diverse curriculum has given me the strategic mindset and confidence I needed to successfully transition into a branding and marketing role in the sector.

l appreciate how the CUHK Corp Comm programme is designed to empower communication practitioners with agility and strategic foresight. The program stretched my boundaries through its multifaceted curriculum from PR to IR, featuring intensive case studies and immersive PR simulations. Equally memorable was the vibrant mix of classmates and lecturers, whose diverse insights and lively discussions enriched every session and offered fresh perspective in today’s digital-savvy landscape. I am confident that this transformative experience equips practitioners to apply strategic communication more effectively in the public sector, fostering stakeholder engagement, delivering impactful policy communication and building trust amidst crisis.

I embarked on this program with little relevance to my original role, simply to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone. I didn’t anticipate a career transformation: immersion in PR, advertising and marketing – fueled by my classmates’ diverse backgrounds and fresh insights – broke mental barriers and ignited creativity. The interactive, case-study-heavy curriculum empowered me to spearhead real-world business initiatives. Now I stand before the “Family” statue at Sin Hang College, amid a family-themed marketing campaign I’m driving – one that further strengthens ties between Hang Seng and CUHK, the two iconic local brands I’m proud to represent.
